DIY-Mosaic Hearts

  1. Choose wooden hearts in any size you prefer, either by cutting them out yourself or purchasing them.

  2. Prior to beginning, remember to wear safety goggles. Wrap the thin mirror in a towel and use a hammer or mosaic and grout cutter to break it into pieces.

  1. Carefully glue the mirror pieces onto the wooden heart using mosaic adhesive. Wear gloves to protect yourself from potential cuts. Leave the area at the top center of the heart untouched, as this is where you'll create a hole later. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.

  2. Once the adhesive is dry, apply white mosaic grout between the glass pieces. Follow the instructions on the label regarding drying time, but typically let it dry for about 15 to 20 minutes. Afterward, use a sponge to wipe away excess grout, leaving a smooth surface. Repeat this process for several coats as needed, following the directions provided on the label.

  1. Once the grout is completely dry, lightly sand the sides of the heart to clean them up.

  2. Paint the entire heart white and allow it to dry thoroughly. After drying, carefully wipe off any excess paint from the mirror area. Then, drill a hole at the top center of the heart for hanging purposes.

  3. Get creative and embellish the heart with lace, Swarovski crystals, or any other decorations that suit your taste and style. Let your imagination guide you in making it uniquely yours.

Below are my other mosaics, created using the same method as described above. Thanks for visiting!
