TOURS || FRIENDSHIP HILL NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

The home of Albert Gallatin.

Gallatin is remembered for serving 13 years as Secretary of the Treasury during the Jefferson and Madison administrations. Gallatin funded the Lewis and Clark expedition, purchased the Louisiana Territory, reduced the national debt, and named the 3 forks of the Missouri River after 3 of the most prominent men of the time-the the Jefferson, the Gallatin, and the Madison. He is considered by some as America's forgotten founding father. The original portrait of him can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I highly recommend visiting Friendship Hill National Historic Site. The house, history, and surrounding trails area are a gem for a history and nature lover.

Friendship Hill is 675 acres in size and is located on the bank of the Monongahela River between New Geneva and Point Marion in southwestern Pennsylvania.
