TRAVEL || BRODICK CASTLE & GARDEN, ISLAND OF ARRAN, SCOTLAND

There are many highlights to Brodick Castle, constructed in 1844, from the fancy drawing room to the red gallery and library. The castle was not as old as I expected, however, the history of Brodick goes back over 800 years. It was previously the seat of the Dukes of Hamilton.

Princess Marie Amelie of Baden married Scottish nobleman William Hamilton (Marquess of Douglas and Clydesdale)in 1843. After her wedding she relocated to Brodick Castle which was built in her honour in Barvarian style.

A peak of the grand baronial castle, which overlooks Brodick Bay, seen through the opening of an elaborate iron fence at the entrance.

The opulent drawing room with thick, ornate, gold frames has rococo architecture characteristics, as do some of the other rooms.

Brodick Garden

The gardens include a barvarian summer house, walled garden, and trails with names such as Silver Trail, Fairies and Legends Trail, Middle Rhododenron Walk, etc.
